Salt Creek Beach in Dana Point has quickly become one of our favorite spots for a picnic. There’s a large grassy hill overlooking the ocean and it’s an ideal spot to eat, enjoy the view, and not worry about sand in your food. Makes it much easier with kids! Then once everyone has full tummies it’s a quick walk down to the sand. Last weekend we teamed up with Beachmate for the perfect Sunday dinner picnic at the beach.
First off packing up for our little adventure was EASY. Having one bag that can hold everything is key. I love our new Beachmate bag because it literally does everything. Lots of pockets for sunscreen, extra clothes, wipes, etc plus a much needed zippered pocket for your phone and keys. Also the sand toys fit INSIDE the bag. Um, genius. Because usually I’m trekking to the beach with one bag for our stuff and another huge bucket spilling over with random plastic toys and shovels. The Beachmate includes 4 buckets total and 2 shovels. And they are sturdy! I can already tell they will hold up to whatever my kids do with them at the beach. I truly appreciate not having to run to Target to replace buckets/shovels before every beach trip!
Tucked under the toys is a good size cooler. Perfect for snacks and drinks. We picked up dinner from nearby Beach Hut deli (if you’re local try the Santa Barbara, it’s delish!!) and brought extra snacks and drinks in the cooler. It made feeding the five of us a breeze.
Honestly it’s evenings like these that I really have to pinch myself. We’re almost to the year mark living in Southern California and it is like a dream. Every time we head to the beach I comment to my husband….”can you believe this”…..I feel incredibly lucky to live so close to such beautiful beaches. And there’s something about kids, sand and water. It’s a combo that just can’t be beat and I’ll soak up every single second of this family time.
Thank you to Beachmate for sponsoring this post!
