Even though it’s already January 6th, we are juuuust easing into the New Year over here. With my kiddos out of school until next week, we’re in vacation mode a little longer then usual. And while I love a lazy morning, I’m itching to get back to a some schedule and routine. These lazy mornings however have given me the opportunity to reflect on 2016 and make goals and plans for 2017.
We really need to get back into a healthy and fresh cooking routine. While I’ve cooked a few big dinners for family and friends over the holiday season, the rest of our time has been a mix of eating out and throwing things together last minute. Not so good. The key to eating fresh and clean for me is to PLAN AHEAD. Weekly menu, grocery shopping and prep. Lately this has not been happening and it’s time to get back at it! I’m filling up my Pinterest ‘Dinner Time’ board with some new ideas (I’ll be sure to share the good ones!!) and taking on challenges like Camille Styles #31mornings for some yummy and healthy breakfast ideas.
Baby #4 is just a few months away and I’m in full nesting mode already. CLEAN! PURGE! ORGANIZE!! I’m by no means a hoarder on a daily basis (and I usually have a goodwill bag in the garage to add to easily) – but there is something about going room to room in the New Year and getting a fresh start. Our house, ESPECIALLY with 4 kiddos soon (wow, that little fact is still sinking in) needs to be as clutter free as possible, with systems in place to keep it that way. Now no house or person is perfect, there will be messes and piles of laundry. And that’s okay! But I think the underlying base of the home has to be clutter free and have systems in place to keep it organized. My heart and brain are just happier that way 🙂
Having time to reflect on the goals of Pretty Smitten and re-evaluate for the future really has been a blessing. I’ve been loving connecting with all of you via this blog and Instagram and have a lot more styling projects and blog posts planned for 2017. The home decor, entertaining, food and lifestyle tips I share on my blog and via social media really are things that I do in my everyday life. Not only is it fun for me to document them along the way, but I hope it’s inspiring for your own life as well. This is where my heart truly is at and I hope to continue to create more inspiring content for Pretty Smitten in the upcoming months.
As for the shop, I know a lot of you have been waiting for it to re-open! I promise it’s coming soon! We will be moving to a pop-up style shop that is open once a month for a few days at a time. I’ve thought a LOT LOT LOT about this and it really makes the most sense. By opening it on a monthly basis I’ll be able to fulfill orders more quickly and efficiently. AND even better it will allow me to take time to create the new designs that I know all of you want to see! More details on the new shop format will follow, so please stay tuned!! You may see the site down for a few days or changes being made, but it’s coming I promise 🙂
Most of all THANK YOU to everyone who has followed along with me so far. Pretty Smitten began almost 8 years ago and has evolved over time to what it is today. I’m so thankful that I get to do what I love everyday, and be there for my family at the same time. Connecting with you guys is my most favorite part, so please always feel free to drop me an email (firstname.lastname@example.org) or message on Instagram. Let me know what you’d like to see for Pretty Smitten in 2017 or just say hello!
