With school starting in a couple short weeks, summer may seem like it’s winding down, but I don’t think I’m anywhere near ending my summer skincare routine. We have pretty mild weather here but it actually gets the warmest in August and September! I have a few brands that I’m pretty loyal to, but I also love to test out new products and see what kind of results I might get from them.
So first off lets talk cleansers. Since being introduced to Beautycounter I’ve been wanting to try their cleansing balm and this summer I’ve really gotten hooked! Now if you’re used to a foaming cleanser, this is different! But non-foaming cleansers are becoming more and more popular and I really like this option. You rub a small amount all over your skin, and then use the included muslin towel to remove with warm water. After a final rinse and pat dry my skin feels well hydrated and clean without having that tight feeling.
FOR DAY: After cleansing I have been using an age prevention serum from Youth to the People. This is a new clean beauty brand that I’ve recently tried this summer and really love. The serum feels lightweight but adds a little bit of moisture and glow to my skin. For daytime I follow it up with my go-to sunscreen and then I’m ready to apply my make-up.
FOR NIGHT: I’ve been using the Beautycounter balm at night lately too, but if I do feel like switching it up I also love this Greek Yoghurt Foaming cleanser from Korres (sorry this one didn’t make it into the pictures!) After cleansing I apply a Ferulic Acid + Retinol Brightening solution from Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare. Okay so this one might not fall under clean beauty….but a girls gotta do what a girls gotta do! I’m not getting any younger so a little retinol helps with those fine lines. And I love this one because it’s a brightening solution too. One not so lovely side effect I’ve had with pregnancy is slight melasma. It showed up the most during my pregnancy with Charlotte and that’s when I found this product. It helped immensely and I’ve been using it off and on since.
Finally for night I’ve been loving this age prevention moisturizer from Youth to the People. It’s thick and goes on so smoothly, just what I love in a night cream!
This summer I’ve also really been loving Herbivore’s Rose Hibiscus spray. It’s light and clean smelling and I’ll spritz it on my face to set my makeup or throughout the day for a little refresh.
I’ve also become hooked on Harry’s Razors! I always want my legs to be smooth and stubble free, especially during the summer, but regular trips to get waxed just aren’t practical for me. Both my husband and I now love the subscription service from Harry’s. Honestly buying the refill razor blades from the store got just so dang expensive! These show up when I need them (you can adjust the delivery timing to your needs) and cost less then $2 per blade. Plus we both love the razor handles. We even got ours engraved so there are no more mix-ups in the shower!
So did you guys notice the one thing missing in my routine? EYE CREAM! I just ran out and I’m on the hunt for a new one. For a day I’m thinking of going with Beautycounter’s rejuvenating eye cream. For night I want a something with a little more oomph to battle wrinkles. I’m considering either this one from Dr. Dennis Gross or this one from Dr. Brandt. Anyone have any favorites I should try? I’ll also be doing a post soon of all my favorite masks, there are so many good ones available and I LOVE a good mask!
I hope you guys found this post helpful! Let me know if you decide to try any of these products and how you like them! A full list can be found below.
