How is Emery already 7 months old?? This last baby stuff isn’t easy! Time is a thief and I’m just trying to cherish every single second with our sweet girl. She’s sitting up and getting more and more active. As she grows we’re making transitions in our favorite baby gear too. I thought this would be a great time to give you an update on two of our favorites – our Dock a Tot and our Mutsy Evo stroller!
Emery has been using her Dock a Tot deluxe since she was born, but we recently moved her up to the Dock a Tot grand. Their website says for babies starting at about 9 months, but we switched her a little early. I think she just needed the space to move around now that she’s rolling, and the extra room makes it easier for her to play with toys.
Just like with her deluxe, little Miss Emmy loves the grand size. The switch was completely seamless. I can just tell for her that it’s her ‘safe spot’ – she cuddles right in and knows it’s her place to sleep. She also plays it in when I’m trying to get things like laundry done! Speaking of laundry, I do recommend getting the extra cover too. When one gets dirty its so much easier to switch them out without waiting on the wash!
I know the Dock a Tot is one of those products that a lot of mama’s ask…is it worth it?? I get it, it’s expensive! And the grand even more so! But for us, the answer is a definite yes. I love that she feels so cozy in it, and I’m sure it’s one of the reasons she’s such a good sleeper. To be completely transparent, while we bought the deluxe size ourselves, Dock a Tot was kind enough to send us the Grand. It would have been something we purchased on our own but we are so so thankful!
I think Dock a Tot is the number one product we’re continually asked about…but the second is definitely our stroller. We purchased the Mutsy Evo stroller with the black chassis and light grey fabric. One of the big reasons I initially purchased this stroller was for the looks! It looks a lot like some more expensive versions out there, and I love the leather handle. Now that we’ve been using the stroller for a solid 7 months…here are some updates to my initial review!
If you read my first review you know that I wasn’t worried about it not coming with a bassinet. And I was right, I didn’t miss it at all. The stroller seat folds almost all the way down so it can still be used with a newborn. And mostly in the first few months I would just use it with the carseat attachment anyway.
So here we go…the pros:
- The basket underneath is nice and large and roomy. Very important when you’re trekking around with 4 kiddos.
- It’s a smooth ride!! I tested out a few other strollers at this same price point and they seemed a little clunky. This one has a comparable ride to the much more expensive Bugaboo. It turns easily and can be pushed with one hand with no problem.
- The bigger wheels make taking the stroller onto grass and dirt much more possible.
- Opens and folds easily!!
- Worth mentioning again…the looks! I love it and get so many compliments on this stroller.
And now for the cons….really I just have one BIG pet peeve….
The sun canopy doesn’t go down far enough!!! You can see on top of the sun shade there is a zipper. If you unzip that portion, it does get slightly larger….but not enough. I’d love to be able to pull it over her much farther to provide more shade. Definitely a bummer.
I hope these updated reviews help any mama’s out there! As always, please please feel free to email me any questions (firstname.lastname@example.org). I know these pieces are big investments and I’m happy to answer any other questions regarding our experiences! You can read my initial review on the Dock a Tot deluxe here and the Mutsy stroller here.
