our favorite chocolate chip cookie recipe

On my Instagram stories the other day I mentioned making our favorite chocolate chip cookies…everytime I mention them I always gets questions about the recipe I use! There are just soooo many chocolate chip cookie recipes out there and I think everyone is always searching for the “perfect one”. Well friends, I’ve tried a ton and I’ve landed on this one. It’s the only one I make anymore and y absolute FAVORITE chocolate chip cookie recipe! I make this probably 2-3 times a month and my whole family loves them. The recipe is from the The Joy of Kitchens design/cook book by The Fox Group. Not only does it have this recipe, but it’s a beautiful book filled to the brim with kitchen inspiration. The book is available to purchase on their website.

The Fox Group’s Chocolate Chip Cookies:

Ingredients

  • 2 sticks butter softened (I cut the butter into large chunks, place in a bowl and microwave for 30-45 seconds)
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 cup packed dark brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 3/4 cups flour
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch (I use arrowroot powder instead)
  • 1 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 cups milk chocolate chips (I usually use semisweet but do whatever you prefer!)

Preheat oven to 375 degrees

Mix together the softened butter, both the dark brown sugar and the white sugar, the 2 eggs, and the vanilla in a large bowl. (I mix in a large bowl using a wooden spoon or dutch whisk)

To the butter mixture, pour in the flour first, then the cornstarch (or arrowroot), salt, and baking soda (all on top of the flour pile), then the chocolate chips (yes, add the chips now before you mix, it helps them to not sink while cooking). Stir everything together until just combined, do not overmix!

Scoop large dough balls onto a baking sheet. (I use a medium sized ice cream scoop. Also I line my baking sheet with parchment paper so they don’t stick and clean up is a breeze! For the larger sheet pans just use two of these papers and trim off the excess)

Bake for 8-10 minutes until lightly browned on top.

I hope you enjoy them as much as we do!
