This vintage chest was a recent FB marketplace find! I’m so happy to have added it to our front entryway, especially since this is an area of our house that has been severely lacking in style for a while now. I’ve always known I wanted a three drawer chest and a mirror, but just hadn’t pulled the trigger on anything. Then scrolling FB marketplace one day this beauty came up, and at a great price too. I love the burlwood details on the drawers, brass handles and marble top! To style it I mostly used items we already owned – including the glass lamp (a Ralph Lauren find from Home Goods), books, candle, frame and vase. The only thing I purchased new was the mirror – from Target! We actually had this mirror in our old house too but I got rid of it before we moved (clearly I should have kept it)! It’s a great size for the price and I love the shape. This time I added gold rub n buff for a quick vintage gold look.
By the front door we have this rug which is a pretty neutral with blues and tans. And then I love our lantern from Serena & Lily that has a more modern look. I think having a more modern pendant balances the vintage chest well.
We’re always decorating over time so this room is far from done…but I’m always reminding myself to enjoy the process. We don’t have the ability and budget to do everything at once, and that’s okay! Eventually I’d like to add wainscoting on the walls and maybe switch up the rug for one with a little more color. I think it’s important to realize making your house a home is a process. I’m always switching things up and planning for future projects, but also trying to appreciate what we’ve done so far!
