In our move from California we got rid of a lot of our furniture, rugs and bigger items….it just didn’t make sense to store everything while our house was being built, especially since often times things that work in one space don’t work in another. It’s so fun to source new items for our home (and a little overwhelming!!). Right now I’m focusing on the bigger items like lighting, rugs and furniture. With Labor Day sales happening this weekend I’m finally pulling the trigger on a few things so I thought I’d share what I’m getting! A little glimpse into our new home….
Lighting is the “jewelry” of a home and really makes such a huge difference in completing a space. It can be expensive though so these Labor Day sales really do help with the price! I’ve loved this chandelier forever and with our new two story family room I finally have a spot for it to make such a grand statement. Same with this table lamp, I’ve been eyeing it for quite a while! It’s an impressive size and I’m envisioning it on a side table in our family room. I’m also planning on incorporating sconces in our new home…thinking these in our one of our girls’ rooms!
We need a lot of beds for the new home…we only brought Amelia’s bed with us! Everyone else needs a new one, and we need one for our guest room too. That is a LOT of beds and mattresses, yikes, which means I’m trying to find ones I love at a good price point. This one fits the bill….love the clean simple lines and that it’s a full bed, not just the headboard. I love it in the neutral white and the rose quartz pink for Emmy’s room! I ordered a sample of the rose quartz because pinks can be soooo tough to get right, but it’s just as the name says…not too candy pink and a beautiful rose color. Emmy is hesitant to sleep in her own room (she’s shared with Charlotte for a while now) and I’m thinking a pink bed could help?! Hopefully!! 🙂
Hunting down beautiful rugs at good price points can also be tough. I’m planning on using some neutral jute rugs in our main areas and then sprinkling in patterns in other areas. I’ve ordered this runner for the kitchen already (15% off now!!) and planning this one with the subtle tones of blue and grey in our entryway (around $400 for the 5×8!)
Other items I’m planning on include this cute scallop side table (used as a nightstand for one of our girls), this chair for my desk space behind the kitchen, a pretty vase (because I can’t resist) and this faux tree…because greenery always completes a space! So who is shopping this weekend? What do you have your eye on?
